Liquor Licenses

• Class 1 - $200 1/2 to Town, 1/2 to State
• Class 2 - $100  1/2 to Town, 1/2 to State

Marriage Licenses 

A Vermont marriage license costs $60 plus an additional $10.00 for a certified copy for a total of $70.00.
When getting Married in the Town of Jay you must apply for the license during regular Town Clerk hours. (Normally, 7 am to 4 pm Mon, Tues, Thurs & Wed 7 am - noon.)
The license is valid for 60 days.
License must be returned to Town Clerk's office within 10 days of date of marriage.

Jay Property Taxes
Always due by 5 pm, 2nd Friday of October.  
2025 Property Taxes due Friday, October 10,2025

• One time 8% penalty imposed on money received after 5 pm on October 13, 2023
• 1% Interest additional penalty imposed per months of October, November, December
• Starting January 1.5% penalty imposed per month
• Property Taxes may be paid online via Electronic check for a fee of $1.50 or by credit card, incurring  a  2.65% fee.

The Jay Community Center is located downstairs in the Jay Town Hall and is available to rent for a minimum fee of $25, plus damage deposit.
