Rita Dunne Braun, 52, passed away suddenly at her home in Jay on Saturday May 10, 2008.
She was born on Dec. 7, 1955 the daughter of Edward and Dorothy (Harty) Dunne in Unionville, Conn.
Rita and her husband moved to this area several years ago and where she also taught in area schools. For the last 17 years, she was employed at North Country Union High School at the time of her death. She was a former President and member of the Vermont Art Teachers Association and the Vermont Drivers Education Teachers Association.
Rita oversaw the mural that was painted on the wall at the VFW and she also arranged for and assisted many students with showcasing their artistic talents at many different business in the area. She enjoyed water and snow skiing, gardening, art, and photography. Rita and Michael enjoyed traveling and they met in Greece when they spent a short time teaching there.
She is survived by her loving husband Michael; her sons, Erik and Alex of New York City; a brother Edward Dunne and his wife Karen of Connecticut; sisters Marian Collier and her husband Norman, Bernadette Fraher and her husband Mark, Dorothy Lindau all of Connecticut; sisters in-law Marie Cimino and her husband Bill of Florida, and Jackie Lano of New York. Rita is also survived by several aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews.
