Delbert Cota
Delbert J. Cota, 59, of Jay passed away suddenly on December 4,2010 in Newport. He was born August 9,1951 in Newport, a son of Arnold Cota, Sr and Dale (Sargent) Cota. On August 9, 1991 he married Ann Richardson who survives him. Delbert was a member of the Jay Fire Department for 25 years and the Mississquoi Ambulance Service. Delbert served in the United States Navy for three years. He worked for the Christmas Loft for over 15 years. He currently was working for the town of Troy during the day and he and Ann ran their own business, Cedarwood Resort of Jay working nights. He loved to camp with Ann and he also enjoyed hunting, baseball-softball, and any outdoor sport. He loved to dance and he really enjoyed his family and their conversations and visits. He served as town constable and he was a great promoter of the Town of Jay and the Jay area. He is survived by his wife Ann Cota of Jay, and by his children: Amy and Keith Deavitt of South Burlington, Buffy and Marty Ardine of Loudon, NH, Hiedi and Scott Rappold of Jay, Betsy and Mike Purvis of Chichester, NH, Melissa and Mike Scherer of Beebe Plain, Vt, and Meghan Gyles and fiancé Cory Peck of Nashua, NH and by his grandchildren: Amber and Eric Mosher, Nick, Brenna, Sierra, Jacob, Ryan, Zachary, Ryliegh, Logan and Rachel and a great grandson Robbie. He is also survived by two brothers: Arnold Cota, Jr and his wife Mary of Jay, Terry Cota and Dorann Cota of St. Johnsbury, by his Aunt Melba and Uncle Howard Cota, by his mother-and father-in-law Lee and Donna Richardson of Jay, Vt, brother and sister's-in-law Jan and Jules Thibeault of Canaan,Vt and Nancee and Tom Gelinas of Henniker,NH, and by several nieces and nephews. He is survived by a special friend Doug and he became a friend to almost everyone he met. Friends may call from 2-4 and 7-9 P.M. on Tuesday December 7,2010 at the Curtis-Britch-Converse-Rushford Funeral Home, 4670 Darling Hill Road, Newport where funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Wednesday, December 8,2010 with the Rev. Larry Wall officiating. Should friends desire, contributions in his memory may be made to the Jay Fire Dept, Jay, Vt 05859.
