Sargent, Roberta S., 79, of Jay passed away in Newport on July 1, 2009 after a long illness. She was a daughter born to Selden and Mildred (Sargent) Willis in Troy on June 8, 1930. Roberta enjoyed listening to country music, having family and friends stopping for a visit, and having family meals. She loved her animals, however her family was her life. She liked to cook and kept many friends happy and full with her homemade donuts. Mrs. Sargent is survived be her children; Richard and his wife Elizabeth of Jay, Connie and her husband Wayne G. Lucas of Jay, and David of North Troy, grandchildren; Coral, Sarah, and Patrick Sargent and Wayne Roy Lucas, step-grandchildren; Angel Wakefield, Ann Herr and her husband John and Aimee and her husband Curt Lucas, also by her sisters Melba and her husband Howard Cota of Troy, Priscilla and her husband James Platt of NH, and Ida and Christine Willis of Newport, as well as her brother Don Willis of Newport Center, and several nieces and nephews, predeceased by her brother Milton A. Willis, Sr. and Carlton Willis, and a sister in law Phyllis. Services will be held at the convenience of the family.
