Jude K Smith
Jude K. Smith, 80, of Irasburg, Vermont passed away on October 17, 2017 at his home. He was born on January 19, 1937 in Brooklyn, NY. In December 1976 he married Ursula N. Mc Manus who survives him. Jude and Ursula owned and operated the Snowline Lodge in Jay, Vermont for 26 years. Prior to their settling in Jay, he served in the Military for 26 years. Major Smith was with Special Forces in Vietnam, served several years in Germany and Korea. He was especially proud to be selected as the Field Artillery Coordinating Officer for the 2/75th Ranger Battalion at Fort Lewis, Washington. He was a Ranger, Soldier and loved his country. Jude was a long time member of the Rotary Club where he was past President. Other membership included the Newport Country Club and American Legion Post #28. He taught at CCV for 15 years, was an assistant Football coach under Cy Benson and Bob Davis at NCUHS. He also was a former member of the Jay Zoning Board. Jude is survived by his wife Ursula Smith of Irasburg, VT; by his children Christopher McManus and his wife Bobbie Joe of Barton, VT: Lars McManus and his longtime companion Rachael Levine O’Donnell of North Troy and Colchester, VT; by his daughter Debra Selcke and her husband Larry of Minnetonka, MN; his grandchildren: Bailey McManus,Trevor Miller, Taylor, Reade, Zack and Cole Selcke; a brother Frank “ Skip†and his wife Susan of Boynton Beach, FL; sisters Sharon and husband Pete Clarkin of VA and NC, Maureen Burns and husband Edward of NJ; Ivah Betros and husband Kenny of PA; sister-in-law Christine Kruempel of Germany, brother-in-law Gebhard Noeth and wife Waltraud of Germany,and by numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents Frank Smith Sr. and Margareta Flood-Smith, and also by a grandson Nicholas Miller on July 29, 2017.
